« on: January 03, 2018, 18:30:07 »
Hey all! I have started a new build thread on R2R.  I’m not going to do 2 and try to keep up, so for those of you on R2R, enjoy.

I will still stay on here and post and ask questions as always.

Stand is assembled!  I have some Panduit arriving this week to layout all the wires for the controllers and stuff.  This week will be all out installing the equipment and keeping it neat and accessible. I will post up pics as it progresses.

Over the weekend I ran 2, 15 amp GFI circuits for all the equipment.

I'm really enjoying this build and upgrade!

Nice looking stand Mike.  I would be worried if those are hardwood floors.  Spills always happen.   :alas:

Hi Kelly,
the whole house is hardwood except for the 2 bedrooms. definitely not ideal. good thing is that this RedSea stand is on a bunch of feet which has about 1/2" opening under the stand.

I also bout a 5" long foam mat to roll out in front of the tank when I will work on it.

Also plenty of towels on hand!

I like. Are you going to glue them together or just place them?

I am going to use NYOS reef cement to mortar the base rock together in sections, then put the sections in the tank.

Not sure if i'm going to mortar, epoxy stick, or just place the shelf rock.

Thanks Kelly, YES, lots of places for corals.

I also wanted lots of caves and swim throughs for the fish.

I will post my anticipated stocking list below.

PS......on of the tonga terraces will be a zoa terrace.........how is your frag tank stocked for zoa's?!

for stocking, it will be a mixed reef.
top left side will be taller SPS, right side large plate on top will be tabling SPS...................NO ACRO's

Plates will be used as "gardens"
acans, chalices, ricordia, zoa's / palys.

also a euphlyyia secion, softie throughout.

I personally love small fish, so while this list seems big, I basically focused on sections of the tank:
top
middle
rocks and caves
bottom

azure damsel / chromis   7
carberryi anthias   5
 wrasse   5
purple firefish   2
oscellaris clown   2  ?
tailspot blenny   1
royal gramma   3
goby   5

Many will be purchased in groups or pairs from DD

There are 10 swim throughs in the scape.

The blue tape is a 3" space all around from the inside of the tank walls to allow for cleaning

Ok. Concrete work done to hold large sections of the base together. I will have a 1 - 1 1/2 inch sand bed.

This is the final scape!

Co workers from Dayton will be down here this week and are coming over for dinner and a tank lifting event!
