I have one and I love it. Let me know if you’d take $100 for it. That’s about all I can afford....
-
Why are you selling this kelly? I have a vertex skimmer in one of my systems that is just a pain in the butt.
Does this really run in 8" of water?
-
That's funny Paul. I replaced this skimmer with a Vertex on my frag tank. I had used a Vertex for three years on my display tank with no problems. I found a used Vertex and decided to go with Vertex on both systems. The Reef Octopus works well in 7-8 inches of water and has a much smaller footprint than the Vertex. When I upgraded my sump, I did not need the small footprint so I went with the Vertex.

I think part of the problem is that the vertex Omega 130 is that it would not run in 8" of water, So I had to lift it about 2", which took away all of my clearance for cleaning. If this RO skimmer runs in 8", I could remove the spacer, and then have much more clearance. Pretty sure the RO is shorter than the Vertex too.

Paul,
You are correct. I had to put both my Vertex's on a platform to keep them from overflowing, but I had room to do it, so not an issue on my tanks. The Reef Octopus worked well without the platform.

Is the skimmer still for sale? How long have you used it?
-
Yes, still for sale. I only used it for around 6 months, replaced with a good deal on a used Vertex 130. The Reef Octopus Skimmer worked fine. I have been using a Vertex on my display tank and I did not need the smaller footprint of the Reef Octopus in my frag tank anymore so I made the switch.
