gyre 250 covers
« on: December 25, 2017, 20:39:50 »
I need to find a way to cover my gyre 250s from critters/nems.  i need it to not restrict flow, but also be safe enough to not suck anything in.
i have seen things from gutter guard plastic, to crochet canvas sheets, to fishing rod sock material.
I am really not sure which is best to use.  I certainly don't wanna be cleaning it every day.

can anyone share some photos of their set up?  i see pictures online, but not very many options that I can see

Did your gyre come with mesh covers? I have them for my ice cap but took them off because I luckily don’t have any issues with critters getting in them. They might be too small for your 250

120 gallon mixed reef.

hmmm, I looked in my box last night and only saw the replacement heads.  I didn't see any covers.

oh crap, you know what?  I think I did get them.  I'm gonna look again tonight.  I'm wondering if I may have thought that the snail guards were something else, and I may have tossed them not knowing why they were in the box.  crap.  I'll have to look.   :alas:

They are like Chinese fingers, which may be something you can buy on Amazon!

How easy do they get clogged with food/floaties?

I just unboxed it yesterday. Won’t be wet for a while. Tank is supposed to arrive Jan 4.

LOOKED DEEPER IN TO MY GYRE BOX, AND WEDGED IN THE BOTTOM WERE THE PACKS OF THESE SOCKS  :be happy:
now the question is, the pump itself has the bracket on the back with the magnet.  how do these socks fit over the pumps, when it has that bracket on the back side?

anyone have issues with nems getting their tentacle or foot through the sock holes?
