There is a post on RC that a lot of you may have seen where someone took several colors of monti caps and glued them on one frag plug and was able to get them to swirl together. So over the past couple weeks I got several kinds from club members and tried the same thing. So far so good. some are touching each other and don't appear to be fighting. It is possible that the dominant one will out grow the others but hoping that I can cut it back if that occurs. Here is a picture of one of the plugs. It has 4 colors, Pink, Red, Purple and Green.

Got this one from pontiac2002gtp, to nice to experiment with so saving it for the display tank when it grows out.

They are doing good. Still not sure if they are photosynthentic. No tissue recession yet and the tips have healed up where I cut them. No encrusting at the base yet though so the jury is still out.

Do you have it in a high flow area or does that seem to matter for this particular kind?

They are probably in medium flow rate and under a 400w Metal Halide.

It has been a couple months and they look as good as when I got them and not feeding the tank with anything but flake food. I ran across these photosynthetic Gorgonia on Live Aquaria today and think it is the same thing.

Midwest Express got it from me, I got it form Sean Danekind. I think Sean bought it retail. I think Baggerhog has a couple that he isn't using if you are looking for one.

Is Midwest Express a person or a store?

Hey Lazy, how is your overflow drain plumbed? It looks like its from the bottom and then there’s some type of fitting on the top of the pipe. Im looking to do something like this and your setup looks unlike any I have seen before and would like to replicate it, if its not to noisy.

You are correct. It is a straight pipe plumbed from the bottom. At the top of the pipe there is one of these

The top opening has a pvc cap that is pressure fit. I use it to dose magnesium into. Just pull the cap and pour it in.
100% quiet. I will get a good pic of it for you.

Here is an updated video of the frag/propagation tank. Not the greatest quality with my point and shoot camera but turned out okay

Hey Brian...

just wanted to bump your old thread :) ( thought larrynews might find it useful )

Now that I have seen this in action a few times, is there any problems you have run across or anything you would change or have changed?

I don't think there is anything I would change Ken. It is likely that it will go back just like it was once the new display tank is complete.

Very nice looking frag setup. Do you sell things out of the tank or is it just a grow out for small frags you purchase?

btw- I think putting something like a 6-line wrasse in there would look cool.

I always liked the 6-line wrasse but heard they like to nip at hard corals. Not sure if that is true?

I do have a few things listed for sale on frag swapper but mostly zoanthids.

I had a big old six line in my 125 sps tank i had years ago and never had any problems. I think they are a cool fish to put in a fuge or frag tank because of their almost cryptic nature and fantastic color... just best alone because of their attitude. Im thinking about setting up a 30g breeder as a frag tank again... where did you get black eggcrate?
