Peppermint shrimp
« on: September 24, 2017, 16:10:17 »
I had bought 3 peppermint shrimp for Aptasia control. Found one head of my green hammer mysteriously 90% dead over night and then I caught a shrimp making a buffet out of a head of yellow hammer yesterday morning. I’ve been keeping feeding minimal so maybe they were just getting hungry but thought I’d make a PSA to add them to your tank with caution. All three have since been moved to my refugium.

I'm sorry to here that. If I had known you were getting them, I would have warned you. I bought a pep just cuz it was cheaper than the fire shrimp lol. He was in the DT less than 5 minutes and he got on my Stylophora and started ripping the polyps out. He's been in the sump since. Bad little dudes...

Seems like some people have better luck than others. At least my aptasia is gone.

Wow, that's good. Makes sense why they have a taste for corals too
