Title: Algae ID Pt 2
Post by: ohioreef on April 14, 2019, 19:42:57
I still have not been able to get a definite ID on this algae. It is red and if you try to pull it out it does not pull off.

I've attached, what I hope, is a better pic.

Is it leafy or stringy?

I'd say its more stringy. I don't see any leaves on it. It's not slimy and if I try to pull it off it doesn't come off.

I've never seen this before.

Possibility of this?

Gelidium, Red Wiry Turf Algae.

That’s the closest I’ve found to an ID. May be time for a sea hare.

The big turbos work very well on it also.

Thanks, I’ll have to look into some turbos.
