Started another build yesterday. Will be adding a second frag tank. It is 23"x96". Here is a pic of the stand.

Lol......  I've been wondering how long you could tolerate a full frag tank.

How do you plan to plumb the tank.

This tank will be plumbed into existing system. I would like to have separate system but all the additional equipment/expense and maintenance keeps me from doing that. DP&L is big expense and this will likely add another 50$ to the bill. Mainly from heaters and dehumidifying run time. Using the same brand LED's that I have on the other tanks.

What is you current light set up over your display? Are you still running MH or did you move over to all led?

do you think the leds brought out the orange tips on your orange crush?  I was thinking your display was 400w halides?

I think it was more related to general water quality. coral began improving that were lit by MH and led after replacing the water.

What did you do in the way of changing your water quality?  Did you switch salts?

I did a 100% water change. There was an excessive amount of tin in the water. I haven't found the source. Unfortunately they don't make a test kit for tin and it costs 50$ each time I send water to Triton for testing. I brought refugium back online with cheato to hopefully keep it at bay. Will send water away again in 3 months to see if it is working.

Yes i will be at cora next weekend. I am still running 3 400w MH over my reef. I would love to make the jump to leds but with mostly sps i am still nervous to do so. Seeing more set ups like yours keeping the sps healthy make me lean a little closer to leds.

Brian you did such a great job with your DIY rockwork! It's so open, free-flowing and gives more room and perfect spacing for your corals. I'd love to be a fish in that tank. Actually the phrase happy as a clam comes to mind too! (-:

For those that havent seen Brians tank in person it is really that colorful.  It is really hard to believe everything is alive and growing and not painted with neon paint.

This tank is now sitting on my back porch. It went up August 2010 and now April 2016, 5 1/2 years later it is torn down. What started to happen as corals grew, light and flow couldn't get to the lower regions of tank where the coral base or whatever was underneath would die or not look nice. The repeated growth and die off raised the reef level to high. The Bali Green Slimer breached the surface several times which would stink up the house pretty bad. After many top cuttings some of the coral lost their charm growing really thick like a hedge instead of a branching tree shape. The faster growing corals dominated the system which got boring. I decided to tear it down to start over. The plan is add different types of corals, paint the stand and canopy, replace the tank, add a modern overflow, and get rid of brown clove polyps that were taking over.

I was surprised after tear down how little rock I had in the tank. This is all of it getting ready for muriatic acid bath.

Here are some pics of when I thought it looked it's best.

Technically the system to extent is still up and running. The display is removed but the sump and 3 frag tanks are still online. I gave away the really large corals after taking some small frags off them; Slimmer, Razzle Tazzle, Pink and Green Birdsnest, Red and Green Monti caps.
