"cryptic" zone
« on: January 18, 2012, 12:20:53 »
I believe I have heard a few using this type of filtration (on top of other means they are using)

if you are do you have pics? benefits you have seen?  is it set up so you can at least look at the sponges etc that are growing?  just thought it might be interesting how these work/look/and are to set up

Second the request.  I am thinking of making one also using a Brute Rubbermaid trashcan that I currently have set up as a DSB.

I turned my sump into a cryptic sump. I used insulation around the sides and top to block out the light. I filled it with live rock most already had sponges and tube worms growing on them. I did this because I am running about 3000gph through my sump and was having trouble getting cheato to grow. I setup a 75g as a "marsh" tank with about 260gph going through it for the cheato. I will try to get pics of it sometime this week.
