phos guard

i was wondering why it says in a reef aquarium that after the levels drop to take it out of service, but that it can be dried and used again when levels start to rise again. i have been running it in 2 places where the over flows dump into the sump and in my reactor, i was going to get rid of the first but run the reactor still but i guess i wont until i heart if someone knows.
thanks

There are a few posts on this a while back...I'm in a bit of a hurry, so I'm not going to dig them up.

One thing to keep in mind is that a study was done a couple of years ago showing this form of phosphate removal to be detrimental to aquariums as compared to the iron version.  (The aluminum version is white balls, and the iron version is red chunks).  Once again, I don't have time to dig up the article, but maybe someone else will.  *hint hint*  :)
