The BOD would like to announce the date for the 2016 Ohio Reef Frag Swap. The swap will be held Saturday October 15th from Noon until 4:00PM. The location is the IUE/CWA Local 775. The address is 150 Heid Rd. Dayton, OH 45404. More details to come but we wanted to give everyone the date to mark your calendars and start growing your frags. Looking forward to a great time.

Vendors have been inquiring about the event, as soon as we get confirmation from them, we will add info on this page.

UPDATE:

I would like to thank Gary for sending 180 emails to companies to provide raffle donations. We have already received a nice external pump as well as a UV sterilizer and several more things on the way. The BOD has spent a lot of time trying to ensure the success of the swap.

We need to get some momentum pushing towards the swap. In order for it to be great we need a high attendance as well as great vendors. Our swap has had a reputation in the past of being a very good swap and we need to continue the tradition. In order to get a lot of vendors there, they need to know it will be a successful and profitable day for them. If you know anyone that may be interested in a table please have them contact us at info@ohioreef.com

Check out this Video from a previous swap to get an idea of all the fun that you will have.

Dealers from around the country come to sell coral (much of which are the amazing corals that you see online not the bland common stuff that you see at your LFS - Local Fish Store).

It is also a great way to meet old friends and make new friends that are in the hobby.

You will find the hottest Zoanthids, Acros, Acans, Chalices, etc. all at great prices!

I usually go once or twice a year. It's great over there and the people are awesome. It's the travel to and back that stinks. Usually 26-30 hrs home to hotel.

I'd like to gauge interest in some white 55 gallon translucent polyethylene barrels (with gallon indicators on the side) for RO/DI and/or mixing reef saltwater. Price would be $40 for pre-orders paid in advance and I'd have a limited number available for $50 the day of the swap in October. I'm waiting on MSDS and Product Safety Data sheets now. I believe they have two bung holes at the top with screw on caps. More details and pics soon.

We modified the swap charges a bit. If you are just a hobbyist and do not want a powered table, then the only cost to you is the $5 entrance fee if you are not a premium member.

Normally it takes a while for a coral to settle in your tank to start growing
