So, what is new with everyone's tanks. What plans do you have?, What's new in your tank?

It's not like I bought a ton, but they only had 12 left and are not sure when more will arrive.  I just wanted to add to my cleaning crew and emerald crabs are one of my favorites.

What kind of new corals?   We, as you know, haven't done anything since Spring.  Tonight, since it was raining, we changed the GFO and Carbon, boiled the nozzle on the return cause it has Aptasia on it, cleaned the skimmer, and took out my dead plants in the sump.  Hard to believe the corals look better than ever with no maintenance on this tank in months.

Pulling out sand and detritus, added CADlights conic biopellet reactor this week, new GFO and carbon this week, and 20 gal water change this week.  Have been tuning the LED's BACK for about 3 weeks, and now running about 60%, turned off the green completely, and everyone is much happier.

Just doing cleanup activities, like cable management and re positioning things in my sump.   Going to clean out my CA reactor and Kalk reactor today, and re-plumb in my continuous water change system.

Well, today I am thinking of a way to catch a freakin flame angle.  The darn thing just decided to pick at my acans.  The angel has never bothered any coral and today suddenly it decided to taste them.   :flame

I love these acans too.  It isn't really eating them, but pecks at them enough to make them close up.

Yeah, I feed nori to the tangs every day, and the flame never messes with it.  This flame angel has been perfect, now today it decides to pick on my acans.  I wish it were easy to catch w/o ripping out all my rock.

Once those angels get a taste of coral flesh genetic disposition sets in and you will have trouble keeping LPS.

Hopefully, the angel is just picking at the mucus.  It isn't really eating anything, just pecking like it would at the rock.  If it does start doing damage, I guess I am going to be spending a day tearing out rock and catching myself a flame angel.

Oh, and Lazylivn hooked me up with a ton of insane coral today too!

Watching my coraline encrust all my rocks... Tank is starting to establish...

Wondering if I should offer up my mandarin to a good home, When all the GHA went away I lost lost all my pod population as she ate them. Now I see little to no pods. Would try to culture pods agian but my last attempt crashed and burned horribly, plus I used a terrible supplier, wont do that again.

Thinking about adding another Clown fish.

Wondering if I want to buy a purp plate and try to squeeze it in scape, or just pick up more sps and save the lps for the 75.

Simply amazed at how much fun this nano is actually providing me... Yeah I love the bigger tanks but I honestly dreaded this nano attempt, and thus far it is every bit of amazing.

75 is in pieces, everything bought for it, just need to assemble and add wa wa.

I'm in the same boat as Boon and Chrom, after I got my water issues under control "bad RO filters" growth has absolutely EXPLODED in my tank.  I've seen some of my chalices add over a 1/2" in the last month.  Everything is growing like crazy!!!!  It's nice to finally see the tank finally come together and grow.  I need to do another 60g water change soon.

I met Brian (LazyLivn) today and picked up a fish trap.  Now I am going to catch a Flame Angel.  Once it's trapped I am getting rid of it.  Darn thing decided to pick on one of my trachyphyllias today and now it hasn't opened today.  This flame angel is done!   :angry4:

*cautiously tapping on my head* Things have been good. No hiccups since the ice storm. Got new Kold Ser-il cartridges and DI on order. Very lazily looking around the state for a healthy CBB and a radiant wrasse.... Growth has been amazing and color has returned to most corals (a couple pieces browned up during the move). Decided yesterday to give up on having a decorative algae tank and moved all the cheato down to the 75g below the turf scrubber and it is loving it. With the newly acquired space that used to be the cheato tank I will begin the process of setting up a frag tank. (Any chance anyone has a 36 in tec light 5T with either 4 or 6 slot sitting around?) Other than that, looking forward to cutting up small creatures and gluing them to cement....

Life's good!!!!

Trying to keep the algae from growing. Have a couple new fish and corals? Yellow Tang, Blue Hepa; and tomorrow I get a pyramid butterfly, a couple dusters and a new conch.
I have a 30g long frag tank just set up last week thats trying to turn brown. Not sure I have rite lights over it. A 2 bulb JBJ compact, A 20g acrylic sump below.

I was lucky to get a set of 2 MHs with reflectors and 3 ballast, and a 20"Odessy Moon light, and float mags, and an urchin (didn't make it) all for $50.00.

I am looking for a canopy for my 180g so that I can put up the MH lights over it.

Currently acclimating corals I acquired at the swap. Suprisingly, everything was clean! Very nice pieces. Fun begins as soon as I put on a pot of coffee and start placing these in their homes. Mapped out my par levels last week and have a good idea where they will be happy.

I got some unluckly frags with bugs and hitchers everywhere. Looking forward to the next Ohio Reef swap and I'll have many frags of my own at that one. and the one thing I hated the most about this swap was that damn 4-square. I like being limited to the cash on hand but the card made me splurge a couple times today.

I've done the same as lazy.....sold that big combo rock that had over 70 nuke greens, 50 purple deaths, and a massive prizm favia larger than the palm of my hand.  That meant tearing out all the rock on that side of the tank as my scaping had slipped and was now on top of the rock I wanted to take out.  So I rescaped, and like it even better.  I've also added a 6"+ Blonde Naso and a small cryptic 6 line wrasse.

In the near future I want to start running bio pellets in a recirculating reactor, but not sure which i want to buy or if I'll just DIY it.

Oh....and the Cleveland Swap hurt my wallet badly.  So DIY might be the way I go.

Update on my tank. I am currently waiting on an order of live rock to come in. Decided to go back to live fiji and cure it like I did when I had my 30g.

I am currently battling GHA.  I am looking to add another fish, a long nosed hawkfish!  Also I am currently planning an upgrade to a 40 breeder.  This will include making a stand, adding a sump, and general awesomeness upgrades!

That is good, I will do the same with my next build. Dry rock took way to long to establish and I miss all the diversity I got with it.

Installed 5 gallon Alk and Calcium dosing jugs and picked up 2 MS 120 LED's. Not sure yet where I will use them but was a good deal and will help reduce my energy footprint.

I have been waiting patiently as my tank matures again. Corals are growing well again. Haven't added anything new in a long time. May get out and see if I can find a nice new acro or lps. The pajamas are mouth brooding again...lol...more free fish and coral treats.

Lowered my Orpheks another inch tonight. I have been lowering an inch every month. Want to get to about 35" off the sand bed. At 40" now. Corals are getting used to the higher par and they are really starting to color up and grow nicely.

Well.....I got lucky and stumbled across a trio of 24" x 24" x 12" cubes.  Daddy's little helper assisted in the installation and before I knew it I had a sand castle in the tank.......lol.    Anyways, the 40 breeder behind will be replaced by a second cube, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the third yet.....but I'll find a home for it.   :-)

It was tentatively identified as a gorilla crab. I'm pretty sure that its killed several of my snails and possibly 4 fish, my mandarin included.
Its approximately 1½" across and, so far, smarter than me, lol.

I will post up some pics when done. I have a crappy point and shoot so, probably wont be the best pics.

It's not like I bought a ton, but they only had 12 left and are not sure when more will arrive.  I just wanted to add to my cleaning crew and emerald crabs are one of my favorites.

I actually had a problem with them. When they got good sized... Was going after small fish and picking at clam mantles.... They do a great job for bubble algae thou!
A Indonesian fisherman once stated if we blow up the coral reef we have no future...... But if we do not we no way to feed my family now...... How sad the circumstances are today that ruin the opportunity of the future!

I'm having a run of bad luck in my tank so tonight i ended up having to shuffle heaters around because the 40b heater died.  Tomorrow i will be replacing it :)  I've also had some coral death so i've been moving frags around to different tanks to get a handle on the situation.

I am using digital timers from Menard's, dosing baking soda solution 6 times a day at 28 min for a total of 168 min, calcium solution 4 times a day at 23 min each for a total of 92 min.

That is a healthy dose. I am surprised to see the Alk and Calcium at a different dosing amount. Has that always been the case? How many cups are you using of each per gallon

When I use soda ash they dose almost exactly the same, but with baking soda you can only dissolve 1 1/4 cups to a gallon, so I have to dose twice as much. Calcium is 2 1/2 cups to a gallon.

Looks like it cleaned up nicely

The coraline that was on it fell off in large chunks.  The overflow area was the worst.......The plumbing was not that bad.....although with all of the PVC fittings that I have, I still needed to go to Lowes for more :)

The area is a bit more cramped than before......but then, that is what a fish room is for.   The old frag tank is going to my LPS and coral QT system for a sump..........to hold that skimmer I won at the swap.

I've swapped out one of my overflow boxes for a CPR, which runs much quieter.   I like this box muxh more that my eshopps box that uses the u-tubes.  I'm looking for a second one now.

I just took down my 90sps tank because I'm in the middle of a move.  It's all living in a large frag tank at my new place.
I moved all livestock over this weekend and built the stand for a 300.
I bought aquavista99's old tank. It's still in very nice condition. So now getting it into the basement will be my next step.

Acclimate all of them to your lighting by starting low and raise them slowly. Start measuring your alkalinity and calcium if you have any sps or sps. Remember to feed them.

I would not feed either of thes until you get experienced.  Both will get all they need from the light, provided they have enough.

Please start a tank profile, so we can help more.

Most of you know by now I am selling off most all of my tank setup. I am downsizing. To what tank, I am not sure yet. I am thinking of doing a NUVO Fusion all in one. I am kinda depressed to tear down. I hope to have something going by winter's end. In the meantime, the break is welcomed and will give me time to reflect on everything I learned not to do in the hobby....lol. The 150 is sold. Fish will be gone tomorrow. Corals are selling. Come get some deals and help me get my new tank.....lol. I will list the rest when all corals and fish are gone. My present position at work has demanded long hours. No quality time to devote to a large tank and this is not fair to the tanks inhabitants. So, I will hang around here while I am tankless and read all the threads from beginning to end this winter....lol

Most of you know that I sold my 150g DD. I am now just getting around to selling off the equipment and other odds and ends. I am not getting out for good. I am merely taking a long break from the hobby. I plan to stay on Ohio Reef. In the meantime I am going to plan a new build or keep saving for a Nuvo. We will see.

I swear by using lanthanum chloride.  I was seeing some cyno awhile back and I dosed 3 or 4 doses of lanthanum and the cyno went away.  My tank was totally gone a few years back and I had a forest of hair algae and starting dosing the lanthanum which brought everything back to life.  Let me know if you would like to try some.

Battling coral losses......acros seem to not like my tank at the moment had a crash back in feb due to a 2 part over dose while I was out of town. Everything is stable but somethings just don't wanna stay alive. So working on setting up a 115g frag tank that will be separate from my DT going to move most my frags in to this then as they grow out going to try to move them back to my DT.

Just started hand dosing in my tank getting my kh up to 9.5 and ca is right at 430.  Just bought a new OceanRevive Arctic-T247 LED Aquarium Light.  Hung it over the tank yesterday and so far VERY pleased with the colors!!  Starting the intensity at 40% on both channels.  Once I get my lvls dialed in and my light acclimated, i will be adding more corals to fill the tank!

My next project is to redo my sump to try and add a refugium.  Not sure if my current sump is big enough so might need to have one made.

I will post pictures of my setup later today.

Added the Ghost Skimmer, and letting the tank "settle" as I have been doing a lot in it lately. Thinking of letting it settle in a bit before adding much else. Although I am still looking around for a small hammer, although not sure if round or wall, depends on what I find.
