Baby Peppermint Shrimp Pics (Image Intensive)
« on: September 07, 2014, 16:37:12 »
I decided to attempt raising peppermint shrimp back in July, and thought you guys might enjoy some of the pics I took during the process.

I got kinda lazy towards the end and ended up with some major causalities towards the end around week 6 or 7. I have 4 shrimp that survived the pelagic larval stage and settled into the final shrimp form.

Just for kicks, I took some pics with my microscope. This was my first attempt at a very large composite stitch...

9/7/2014: Day 50. I have 4 shrimp that look like this.

Very nicely done! Congratulations. What do you think was harder to raise? Clownish or Peppermint Shrimp?

Clownfish are definitely more of a challenge, at least early on. I have a really high mortality rate on Clownfish in the first 24-48 hours, which I'm sure can be attributed to my rotifer cultures. The peppermint shrimp really only require brine shrimp. I fed them newly hatched shrimp pretty much the whole time. If I would have done more water changes and cleaned the tank more often I'm sure I could have ended up with more shrimp.
