Chocolate chip starfish

I was cleaning up the remnants of my harlequin shrimp's meal.   The knobs on the back of the starfish are calcium based.

So they don't eat the calcium based knobs?

They just eat the tissue, there is a white pile under the overhang where he fed.  Most of it was like large grans of sand.... except for the larger knobs.
