I had one...and it couldn't ever right itself.  It eventually fell over one day when I wasn't watching...and died.  Uggh.

I've had those on and off for years. They are sold to me as "star" snails.

Oh most definitely... Ninja stuff is a hot commodity... However once they were in your tank you probably wouldn't be able to find them?? :D
