updating my 29
« on: September 24, 2006, 22:49:19 »
well, for the mostpart my 29 setup hasnt changed a bit since i set it up two years ago. this current tank:

is about to get a major facelift over the next week or two. it all started with a trip to walmart and buying glass dremel bits without any intention of using them on this.

i will drill it for a anthony calfo style overflow(holes drilled in back with a box outside tank, a closed loop, a new stand to be made and a new bigger sump(started with a 10 gallon then went to a 20 currently and going to a 29.)

wish me luck, i will be sure to post pics as i make progress.

Do you have a 24 inch PC light on your tank? Just wonderin because I just ordered a 24 inch PC light for my tank which is the same length as a 29.

Good luck with the dremel mod.  I have some diamond drill hole saws for bulkheads if you'd rather go that way.

well, i guess i had the wrong bit... i was drilling through thinking all was going well as it did on a test piece. it wouldnt go through, and the glass got pretty hot eventhough i was spraying it every 2 seconds. the diamond coating came off the bit and snapped the glass.... so i guess ill just do a sump/stand upgrade and Maybe drill a hole in the back using a hole saw.. joel said he had a press for drilling tanks so i may give that a try...

borrowed the drill press and bit from joel and i am now confident after drilling a few holes on the broken tank that i can drill a hole on my current tank. hopefully i will get everything done by tomorrow
