Aptasia? Identification
« on: January 11, 2016, 15:02:36 »
I have these two anenomes coming out of a live rock i recently purchased and i cant find aptasia pictures that look the same with the stripes and markings. The similar pictures i found seem to have mixed responses as to what they are. Are there any opinions here.

I just found this majano anemone yesterday in my tank.  2 of them on 1 disc. on the far right side you can see it. Have a request out for the magic wand!
It costs HOW much?!

ok. Thanks. I'm on the list for the wand. I have dipped all my corals and started with reef cleaners rock so I know it wasn't the rock. I'm still new to this but I'm guessing dipping does not kill aphasia?

That is correct. Dipping will not kill aiptasia

I don't believe in stupid questions :)

from what is commonly accepted, ANY little piece of the stuff can create a new one.

There are so many ways to go at this problem, that its hard to suggest where to start.

Easiest solution.. if the rock they are on is small; remove it. if you want to keep the rock, soak it in bleach for a day. soak it in fresh water for more than 3 days. let sit outside until the next blue moon etc  :) lol

I keep peppermint shrimp as a controller. They are not a quick fix, but work well for me

I would say "no" you shouldn't experience any issues. However, I have not personally kept the two types together.

I would mix up a good Kalk paste and hit them with it, I have tried the laser and have heard some mixed reviews, but it didn't work for me it actually made them worse. Kalk paste is the only thing I have had work everytime

Peppermint shrimps have worked for me, but I've heard they are hit and miss. I have superglued them. If you pull the rock/frag out, and remember where they were, you can put a blob of gel superglue over them.
