Cookie issue?
« on: January 20, 2017, 12:37:31 »
Not sure if my browser, or something else, but even after logging in, trying to hit the Unread Posts button keeps taking me back to Login Prompt, and can't view the "Unread Posts" page.

Yes definitely a cookie issue.  Let me replace the cookie it will log everybody out but hopefully fix the problem .  You must have some networking background  to be able to guess the issue without even looking at the backend, pretty impressive!

More of a good guess. It happened on four different browsers on three different devices, so figured that was it. Also, Tapatalk isn't refreshing for me anymore, so looks like I'll have to use browser on the phone.

I'm having this same problem as well.

I've cleared and reloaded cookies on 2 systems running Windows 10 and Android with no success.

Just FYI :)

I don't know  much about cookies. Except they taste very good.  Try if you haven't already changing your shortcut to Ohioreef.com if you are using the w orcreef.org and allowing it to redirect you it may be affecting it.  When I get a chance I will research cookies and tey to learn more about them

Are you using the new url or going to old one and allowing it to redirect you?

I have discovered that if I click the "Show unread posts since last visit." Link in the upper right it works, but if I click on "Unread Posts" on the menu bar, I just get prompted to login and then taken back to the homepage every time.

It doesn't work here either. If you compare the two links, they are a little different too.

The one that works is in the upper right hand corner and links to:

http://ohioreef.com/index.php?action=unread;all;start=0

The one in the menu bar redirects me to a login page and the link is:

http://www.ohioreef.com/index.php?action=unread;all;start=0

The one that doesn't work correctly links to www.ohioreef.com where the one that works links to ohioreef.com. Wonder if its something one of the guys can fix easily?

You beat me to it. That's exactly the issue I was first having  thinking the cookie wasn't coded right, and I was going to actually check the links after tomorrow.

Nice detective work guys.....that helped track it down.  Should be fixed.

In today's age, I guess it's uncool to have www in your website address.
