Title: Rock Anemone a goner?
Post by: SweetReefOH on February 03, 2019, 16:57:05
This guy was in one of my holding tanks. I didn’t think rock anemones were photosynthetic but he was looking bad so I moved him to my 40. His foot is intact and attached to the container but he’s spitting goop and looking rough. Think he will recover or is he a goner?

Looks like it is just expelling food. Mine do it all the time. If the foot is intact and it is attaching, I would say it should be fine.

I hope you’re right Steve. He just looks in really bad shape. The Nitrates are upwards of 60 in that holding tank and I was just using a cheap LED on it. Maybe the stronger light will turn him around.
Rick, you’re right. He is/was a beautiful nem.

If you are looking for more I have about 50 LOL. I started with 6-7 and they have split like crazy. Various sizes and a couple variations of orange. I have a bunch the same color as your.

Hey Zach. I may have to do that. I have had him and another one for 1.5 years and they’ve never split. I don’t get it.

I didn't think that flowers split, thought they had babys.

I've had mine for almost 3 years and they have split after two tank upgrades/transfers. I have always transferred all my live rock to the new tanks but it must have stressed them enough to split. I recently bought a RTBA and it split. I would gladly trade for some sps or LPS that I don't already have.

You should post a pic of your tank. I’d like to see them.

Wow. Your tank and nems are beautiful. The anemones don’t kill your Bam Bams??

When the nems are on the sand they tend to find something to lean against. The zoa's and the nems don't fight but obviously they don't grow in that direction. I have move that colony of zoas a few inches away and that nem finds it and moves itself again lol.
