You need to help me start thinking about coral placement!

I actually have a bit of a plan. I will draw it out on a pic and post it.

Mike, great looking rock work, love your attention to detail. Can you talk more about the NYOS cement, have you used it before - thoughts? Thanks Rick

Hi Rick. Well, I wanted to secure the large pieces of base rock. I’m going to have 5-6 gobies. At least 1 pair with a pistol shrimp if not 2. So I wanted a very secure base sitting on the bottom that won’t fall over.

The Tonga plates are just stacked and I am not planning on permanently attaching them to each other. They have a big footprint and have some weight to them.

I watched a bunch of videos on different cements. The NYOS is pricey, but it mixes easy and fast. You must be prepared and know which piece you are doing next as it sets solid in 2 minutes as advertised.

There are some bad reviews on this stuff. But the good ones and the good videos make it clear that you must mix a perfect 3:1 ratio. 3 parts cement to 1 part water. If you follow that it works perfectly every time.

I used a small dose cap from a NyQuil bottle. It has a 15 and 30 ml dosage lines.

I used 45:15 every time. You end up with a little smaller than a golf ball size.

Then you must quickly press it into the spot you want. Obviously you can’t make it paper thin for large rocks. Rather multiple spots that are thick and small.

I recommend watching the YouTube videos as well.

I think one can makes about 10-12 at the mix I used

Please ask any questions!

Very Nice setup you have, i like your red sea rimless tank better than my deep blue rimless 75 currently have not setup yet.

Thank you very much. No disappointments so far. Hopefully getting it wet this weekend. Making water now!

Scape is IN!  Lots of room for coral, caves and swim throughs for fish, and room to clean all around.

Sand goes in today, water tomorrow!

Base rock pieces are all cemented together.

Most everything else is not

Beautiful just beautiful.  Are you going to cycle without lighting?

No lights till the weekend. I will be adding fish and lights then.
I will be putting in 3 royal gramma, 3 azure damsels, 3 zebra barred dartfish, and 1 tailspot blenny. All small size.

Then after a couple weeks with fish and lights it will be about time to add a properly sized CUC.

Then, I will be awaiting Keith92 to take vacation and haul my corals down!

Keith!  It’s in the 70’s down here this week!

I bought 50 lbs of Tonga plate from Marine Depot. I used about 35 lbs of it.
