New combo lighting question
« on: November 10, 2019, 15:41:51 »
I have a 4' reefbreeder led light and I upgraded to a 180 tank.  There is 12" on each side with the light centered.  Will I need additional lighting? Light hangs 11" or so from the water.  Thoughts

I don’t know how powerful that particular light is, but if you can raise it you will get more spread

I would say yes. The 48 will not cover the ends unless you are growing low light corals and I believe you will see significant PAR drop front and back with single light. I bought 2 36 inch fixtures for my 180 and they covered end to end great, but front and back the PAR was horrible. I ended up adding a 5 ft fixture across the back.

I would sell what you have and get three separate lights so your not wasting light over braces
