Overflow covers????
« on: December 26, 2011, 19:49:33 »
I have a 150 gallon dual glass overflows in each corner of the tank

I can see my plumbing through the glass over-flows when I stand in front of my tank.  Anyone ever done a DIY fix to hide this problem?

We used a smoke color acrylic glued on the overflow boxes. It worked good but the glue we used didn't stick so I took them off.

so what happened?  would the acrylic just float to the top?  I can "wedge" it against the glass overflows with live rock if I have to.  its just an eyesore to me thats all.

Do you still have the acrylic?  where can I get black acrylic?

Yes the acrylic would float away from the overflows. I didn't want to wedge anything against it. I think it came from custom acrylic.

I will be ordering some black acrylic in feb/march if you want some of it i can get you some cut to fit. Try using 2ton epoxy or silicon to glue it to the glass.

If I don't find a solution before you order I might take u up on that.  I am just getting ready tontear down the tank, redo the rock work, plumbing, and add new sumps.  Basically a tank makeover and that would be a good time to "glue" whatever solution I can to the glass overflows

wondering since Krylon fushion is for acrylic if i could just take some acrylic pieces I have... sand them alittle bit (to give the paint more to hang onto) and paint them with the krylon fushion paint then attach them to my overflows?

I have ceramic tile covering the entire back of my 180.  Just the cheap stuff from lowes.  Just used silicone to attach it, then it will get covered with coraline and frags.
Firefighting:  How hard can it be?  You just put the wet stuff on the red stuff right?

57 Rimless SPS/LPS in the works

OLD:180g mixed reef, 60g sump, 2 30g frag tanks, 30g macro algae tank.  300g total system.

Yep out of acrylic, put a lip on it and snapped it into place.  Never floated away.....

Even have an extra pair but not for corner overflows.
