« on: July 12, 2018, 09:04:01 »
recently got one of these... has crazy long feeders, but a great looking coral. i've got it next to a frogspawn and an acan and it doesnt look like the feeders are stinging those other corals. i dont see many people keeping these- anyone else have one?

Most people know it as a Galaxea Coral. It use to be very popular back 12-15 years back. It is a very hardy coral and quite pretty. At night rogue sweeper tentacles can get a foot long and they have a nasty sting. A couple years ago orange/gold galaxea started coming in that rejuvenated folks interest in them.

that one is little bigger than a softball. love the movement on it. oddly enough the feeders havent hurt anything near it (yet)

It is probably safe next to euphyillia but something to keep an eye on.

One of the few corals I haven’t killed or maimed....mine is at least softball size and it’s a beautiful piece. The sweepers are hard on stuff around it. I had some gorgonian fingers that kept dying off on their tips and couldn’t figure out what was going on. Late one evening I found the reason, too close to the Galaxia. Reminds me of sweepers from my bubble coral but longer and more delicate.  Orange / gold would be a nice color.
