I don't think you know where Lazy lives, I am closer!  :)

Especially since both of you have Huber Heights as your location.

Lazy, I wish I had pictures but my zoa's were decimated a while back for no apparent reason (possibly the small buckets of RSCP salt?).

I would be happy to take pictures of everyones reef. (New Hobby ) In fact I am heading over to Tim's house next week to get some of his tank.

Micah I got my Djtonton directly from his as well. Some look exactly like your pictures and others look complety different. They are the morphingist zoa's I have seen. Here is another pic of the ones I have in lower light http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr227/lazylivin/IMG_0694.jpg
We defintly should get together after the holidays, you list has grown and you have a bunch I would like as well.

Matt I lost a bunch of Zoa's last winter to what I think was zoa pox but also could have been the RSCP incident.

I may be picking up the Father-in-laws used D70 for xmas.  I have 2 nice macro lenses (28-80 & 100-300) from my 35mm days a few years back... we'll see if I am able to get it from him  ;)

You wouldn't look twice at those zoanthids in person.  I just happened to get a great shot of them.  They're more gray instead of blue...more dull yellow than green...yeah, nothing pretty.  :)  But, thanks.

I have a few like that. The Xmen in person...aaaah no big deal but the pictures look nice. Of all the high dollar zoa's out there a nice colony of good old dragon eyes still out beat everything else in my eye. Well except for the magicians.
I got a few more coming next week.

Anyway ... Here is a few of the things I picked up along with a few new shots of old stuff.

Trying to get used to the new MH lights :)

These were my greatest catch IMO ...I love these things. I cant do them justice until I figure out this lighting

Do zoas tend to have stuff in them to protect from getting chewed on by say, Klein's butterfly fish?
I don't want to spend more money until I either get rid of her or get stuff that she won't touch.

::)  I was afraid of that... I guess I'm going to have to make a decision about this fish.  Too bad you can't "rent-a-fish" like this to take care of certain problems and return them easily for full credit when the job is done.

:(  I got a few zoas and none of them will open.  Even my older ones aren't opening.  Do they hate high lighting?  This seems to have happened with the new LEDS.  I'm really bummed.

It is possible. Consider swapping back to your old light if it is easy to do to see if they open.

I haven't seen anyone picking at them yet.
The LEDs are two of the Aqua Ray strips, one is marine blue, the other marine white.
http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/LEDLights.html

Quote
Features
• Up to 50,000 hour lamp life (equivalent to 6x fluorescent lighting) with no significant deterioration of spectral quality.
• Latest Generation Cree XR-E Power LED emitters; Currently there is not a more powerful emitter, producing more lumens & useful light energy per watt, making these AquaRay LED light systems the BEST aquarium lights at any price!
• New Wide Angle Beam, which easily allows for the fixture to be placed over 12 inches above an open aquarium and still not loose much light energy.
• Low voltage and cool running
• Highest useable and visible output of light per energy consumed. Over 80 lumens per watt. Tests have shown that a 12w AquaBeam produces up to 33% more illumination at 20 inches than a 24w compact fluorescent aquarium fitting (PLL compact fluorescent), in part due to focused illumination.
• 20,000 LUX along with the Highest PAR output available in LED lights (including the more expensive Solaris) or any other lighting type. Delivers high LUX and PAR values which means it is suitable for all marine set ups including reef tanks incorporating LPS and SPS hard corals.
Not to totally crap on the thread, but you asked, sorry!

I guess I could leave them off for a few days and see what happens, but then what about my SPS which are coloring up so nice?

I agree with Andy, sometimes it just takes time. I got some Rasta's about two month's back and they took just shy of three weeks to open. When they did there color was all messed up but now everything is fine.

Brian, When is your tank gonna be all setup? I need to come see your collection, you must have over 20 zoa morphs by now .

The Red Hornets & Flaming Fire Frogs are deep water and need really low light or they will dissolve away on you. They can be acclimated to higher light but very slowly over 4-6 months.

The Flaming Fire Frogs also know as Fruit Loops are really nice zoa's.

Lazylivin, I sure appreciate that.  It would have been nice to know when I purchased them.  Too many online vendors don't bother to give you essential info like that  :(

I moved them all this morning down to the bottom of the tank in shadowy spaces.  Let's see if that makes them happier.

It's hard as heck to research zoanthid needs being as they come up with all these "cutesy" marketing names and you really don't get the info as to where they were collected and what their lighting needs are.  Frustrating!

Glad you guys like them. I amazed everyday at all the different varieties of zoa's that are being found in the ocean. Those last three are from the reefs of Florida. The first 2 were already named but they called the last one just. A lot of folks don’t really like the name game but for me it makes it fun.

~reefchik~ do you have any updates on how your zoanthid's are doing?

They came in pretty ruff looking, took about 3 days to open but they have been coming around over the past couple of weeks. I cant get very good pictures anymore due to everything being in a rubbermaid tub and not having a tripod that can work with it.

I have a whole colony of them and 3 other morphs ... did you get at Justins? He scraped the racks of his tank for me and I got them then ... they grow nice and fast in my little systems so they should do great in yours.

Its just a baby....
As they both sank to the bottom of the river, the frog said "do you mind if I ask you something? You said there would be no logic in your stinging me. Why did you do it?" "It has nothing to do with logic," the drowning scorpion sadly replied. "It's just self destruction is my nature."

These last three have grown a bit since these pictures, the yellow one is almost off the plug :D

slightly off topic but what sort of camera and (macro ?) lense do you use?
I have a nikon 5200 but only have an 18-55mm and a 55-200mm ... cant get too detailed of pictures and have been thinking about buying a macro lense.

My primary lens is a Tamron SP 90MM F/2.8 Di 1:1 Macro

I had a Nikon D80, but I just upgraded to a D5300.   That is such a huge upgrade in sensors, I was shocked.   It almost is fast enough to shoot without a tripod.   But I would still recommend a tripod and remote shutter release
