Group buy ethical (and possibly legal) obligations

When we set up a buy from one of our vendors, and members state that they want something, then please have the decency to buy what you asked for.  During a recent group buy on salt, a GREAT sponsor of the club was burned by over 20 buckets of salt not being picked up after being reserved, without even so much as a call to say, "sorry, not gonna get it".  This is inexcusable, and a great way to lose sponsors.  This kind of activity really makes us look bad and sponsors just might take their $ elsewhere.

wow 20 buckets of salt? ouch, though I figure a vendor would collect funds down before ordering in such a large shipment.

I guess I also want to know where was I on this group buy rofl I need salt too!!!

which sponser? what kind of salt? and how much per bucket I am sure we all could use some and take it and help them out.

I also never saw anything on a group buy for salt.  I think I have 3 buckets in the garage but depending on which salt & the price I could use more

first, vendors  have been able to take members at their word, so for the most part. the items are not prepaid.  That's a little thing called integrity.  Call Rich at the Coral Ranch and inquire as to what he has left.  Yes, there was a complaint.  this went down about two months ago.

To start I want to say Rich is a great sponsor and bends over backwards for items I need.

But after looking into the sale post I hope he didnt stick himself with excess stock..

His complaint was specific to several club members who were no-shows/no calls after making the requests and the stock came in.  He complained to me and I told the BOD about it, but we let it slide due to a lack of evidence.  I overheard one of our members at the frag swap talking about what a great deal he got from someone else on the forum and didn't go and pick up the other salt.  This has been nagging me since. 

For those of you who don't know him, Rich is probably one of the nicest people you could meet, knows what he's talking about, and his prices are very reasonable. 
We need to look after our sponsors.

Thanks for clarifying Kev. If thats the case I'm in complete agreement with you. that was just wrong. Rich is too good of a person to do that to.

+1, unfortunately I haven't had the honor of meet rich or visiting the coral ranch (yet)! From everything I've read and heard from darn near everyone, this is no way to treat anyone let alone someone who is a sponsor! Near sickening to hear! I don't use quite the amount of salt as most (only due to small tank size, and very low livestock), but I could use a bucket. What I am currently using was recommended to me, but have since found that I don't really care for it.
