WWC Yellow tip acro
« on: July 08, 2018, 19:28:09 »
Thought I would share a photo of one of my favorite corals I have at the moment. I took this frag of yellow tip in as somewhat of a rescue and it’s turned out to be beautiful. The body changes from green to blue to purple and it’s got nice bright yellow tip. Photos taken with a iPhone unfortunately  :(

Nice stick! All those issues you mentioned in the Zoas post and you’re still growing sticks....

I’ve had a few SPS corals start to die off. I’m hoping they can recover.

The three that were most affected were the LA lakers scroll monti, my large colony of reddish brown coral and the small red acro above it that I circled. Sorry I don’t know the names of the last two.

Not sure what the circled one is but the large one underneath it looks like a Digitata. Are you sure you don’t have nudibranchs?

Based on the die off I was seeing, which was sometimes identical coral frags on different sides of my system going at the same time/rate, I think it was a combination of what I had posted in the Zoa grow out. My water was too clean, nutrients too high, alk too high, trace elements possibly out of sorts. I was seeing super fast growth of some corals but they were too stressed to sustain it. Leaning heavily towards aquarist error. Cleaned my powerheads today. That was also overdo.

Gotcha. That splotchy white damage looked similar to my Monti nudi problem. I hope you are back on track now.

I took another plunge and ordered from WWC/eBay and picked up a couple frags from Pip. If these corals fall too (in both systems I have going) I am going to have to consider getting out or just going softy and LPS.

I know what you mean. That’s my thoughts too. Switching to LPS for future additions wouldn’t be a bad idea. I haven’t lost any of those!

I do love the challenge of sticks, but there has to be a point when enough is enough.
