Brian, that is a stunning revelation that I am sure you didnít expect! Glad you found your issue though.

Am I the only one that is dumbfounded that this could happen to a piece of equipment that is as expensive as the MP40ís are?!? I donít care how old they are. This should never be a possibility!
There are many a stories about this on the forums.

I had the same thing happen to the magnet on my IM grazer.  Fortunately I was only dealing with a 30 gallon tank.

Are you going to be open tomorrow or are you still a couple weeks out?
I dont think Brian will open just yet.  He is very picky about selling sub par corals and will not sell anything he wouldnt put into his own tank and be proud of.  Hopefully things will turn around soon for him.

The only reason I asked was because last weekend he said he was ready to open back up, but had trees to cut down.

Unfortunatley I am not open today. I think I am going to wait until the fall. What looked good last week seems to have deteriorated. Hopefully with water changes and rusty parts removed things will come back.

Thanks for all the comments. Iíll respond probably this evening and also share what Iím doing to  hopefully correct the issue.

I found this tonight when I pulled out my mp40's for inspection.  Really big crack, bulged out and rust stained.  I havent had the drastic issues Brian has had but I have seen a major loss of p/e and one frag is almost gone.  Making water for water change now.

I have been sent photos from at least 10-15 folks with same problem after posting the Facebook video. Seems to be a very common problem.

Unfortunate that this has happened. Any updates since the video? Do you plan on sending another ICP test once you (hopefully) get all the metal out?

Thank you. I do plan on sending another test here soon. This time I will send to both triton and to ati and see how they compare. On a good note I am seeing improvement in some coral health. I even had to kick up the alk dosing today which is a really good sign. I also am seeing some bleaching reversal in some coral so was able to increase the light intensity over some areas of the tank.

Brian, i have something similar going on here. Think it is from drywall dust from finishing the basement here, but WOW ive lost a few really nice pieces! This RTN stuff is just ridiculous!
