What is this from? My snail?

Over the past couple months I have seen one of these in a much smaller form, lying on the substrate.  Yesterday, I saw this one, which is a lot bigger.
I THINK it's from my snail but am really unsure.  To me it looks like the "lid" of when they go in to their shell, it seals off from any predators entering in to eat them.  But that's my guess.

It's very hard, like a sea shell, and also has ridges within the circles.  Anyone ever come across this?  What is it?
