LED issues
« on: April 07, 2019, 00:12:13 »
Just noticed last night that 5 of my LED's have stopped working. My lights have 3 pods of lights with 24 LED's each. 4 channels with 6 LED's per channel. On 1 of the channels 5 of 6 bulbs stopped working, any suggestions. Will be contacting manufacturer as well. Doubt if 5 of them just burnt out at once, but no expertise in this area.

Might have been slowly going out one at a time and you are just now noticing them being dead.  I had a whole sting of 12 out on my diy lights a couple months ago and not sure how long they were out.  Most of us always are looking down into our tanks not up:)  If they are anything like the revives they are really simple to replace.  I picked up one of the old revives from Lazy's old system and replace 5 or so that were burnt out.  I might even have some extras pending what color they are that I can fix you up with.

I have some extra led's, not sure about changing them. The way my lights are, without a canopy, I can see them easily and haven't noticed any going out. But that doesn't mean they couldn't have.

So the manufacturer says I am likely losing Led's which is causing voltage disruption in the channel, causing the other led's not to light. Need to find the bad ones and replace them. Any body with led changing skills that could help? Could definitely throw in a frag or 2 for your trouble and I could learn to do it as well.

Steve, do you need any LED's at this time? I could loan you an Ocean Revives if needed, let me know.

Cheers Rick

Thanks Rick, but right know I am good. Just affecting a little color. Still have lots of light around the one that is not working right.

Hey I got it Jeff, meant to send a pick of one of the LED's. Not sure yet which of the lights are actually burnt out and which ones aren't working because of voltage disruption. I believe they are blue 450nm though and I do have 1 UV 410nm out. I have several replacements of each. So we will see what I need. I am going to try and check them Sunday with a tester that Topekoms gave me to see if I can locate the burnt ones.

Do you have a backup light? I could take a look at it for you.
