Just updating on my run with the macros I purchased....
Ulva.... This stuff has really suprised me.... Its growing like a weed through the cycle..... I started with a ball about the size of a baseball and Im up to about a cantelope or small Mellon which is saying alot considering it is pretty much keeping my entire clean up crew alive.... They are all munching on it, it looks like it was attacked by a hoarde of catepillars. But the new growth is very deep green and looks great and healthy, hoping I have time to get my 75 fuge up before it gets too big... Wonder how the fish will fair with it.
The pencil cap went sexual but has sprout 2 new growths from the first that are now just as large as the original and a very vibrant green. The snails and clean crew have left it be.
The shaving brush has also went sexual but sprouted a single new growth that isnt as tall as the original yet but it is twice as thick than the original, and is noticably growing and changing... It looks different every 4-5 days. The clean up crew has left it alone aswell.
The flame algae is doing great I have 2 sprigs now that are each the size of the piece I started with... Though I have noticed what appeared to be hair.algae growing on it and only it no where else in the tank... John with reefcleaners confirmed it is green algae and that it isnt unxommon to grow on calcified algae such as flame algae, I did not know this... I plan to just pick it off per johns instructions....
the nitrates in the tank have remained undetectable even though I have been heavily feeding... so they seem to be doing their job.
If everything continues one it looks like I will have a good start for the fuge for the cube.
