Aiptasia
« on: July 26, 2010, 16:57:04 »
I've got a 55 gallon tank with an aiptasia outbreak.  I just bought one peppermint shrimp to try and eat some, but think just 1 may not be enough.  I prolly have fifteen - twenty small aptasia started about 5 of them are big.  Was just curious how many shrimp anyone would recommend for a 55 gallon tank.

5-7 may be a bit overkill. I like to do trios of the little guys.

All hope is lost, tear down your tank!

Full Disclosure: I'm looking for a 55 gallon tank.  ;D

I'd start with 3, then work your way up.

I added a dozen to my 250g tank when I had an outbreak last year. They didn't work out so well. I ended up getting a copperban to get rid of them. Now that my copperban is gone I need to try the shrimp again.

I had an outbreak in our 37g with new live rock.

I bought 1 Peppermint shrimp at Coral Ranch and in 1 week ... nothing of the aiptasia were left :)

I am just lucky I guess ... Peppermint shrimp have always cured my problem.

ya but only 3 to 4 will eat them maybe or all and even than the aiptasia will be gone quicker and than take all but 1 or 2 out and take them back for in store credit or sell them
