Title: 24' Pontoon Resto
Post by: ohioreef on July 18, 2009, 22:11:45
Just thought I'd post what has been taking up all my time lately:

We bought this pontoon last fall, but did not have a trailer to get it home so we paid someone to pull it out and store it over the winter. I got a trailer this past spring and finally got a chance to get her home.

The toon had no furniture on it and the fencing was an ugly "shag carpet green."

I picked up this 1971 60hp Johnson on eBay for $125! I'm in the process of getting it running and hope to be able to replace the 28hp that is currently on the toon.

We started by removing the fence:

We then cleaned the carpet under the fence:

Finally, we installed risers under the fence so water can run out:

Next we replaced the green aluminum siding.

We then bought furniture. The set we ordered included 2 armrests, but it ended up being too long with the armrests on. We decided we were going to save them and order a 50in couch to put at the rear where the silver box is currently sitting.

Lastly, we replaced the old style bimini with a more user friendly one.

I plan on doing some small things yet, like rewiring it, adding a radio, etc. I am also hoping to get the motor running and have it ready for next spring.

Very nice, Gary. You should host a Ohio Reef meeting on your boat!
