need help with sps

i have been nursing this sps back to health for about 6 months, it was only 1"square when i got it and it finally got its coloing back and is looking goo.

i know that the edges usualy look white when its growing but i noticed that the white is retreating back toward the conter of the coral is this normal or is something else going on that i am not seeing

heres a pic below, sorry for bad pic , had to use my phone
its on left side around mid point, been watching this happen for a few days now

It may be tissue necrosis. Common in new tanks or when Alk is lower. It is important to run much higher Alk level in tanks then ocean unless carbon dosing. Consider a Alk of 9.5 - 10 with minimal flucuation day to day

Just to add I see it next to a chalice. At night they shoot out feeders that commonly sting nearby corals

since i moved the chalice down their its growing like a weed now

gonna have to move it over a little bit

will have to have my fiancee check alk

Also not sure if you've added any other montipora, but nudibranchs are something to keep a eye out for.  They will eat across a monti like that.  I agree with Lazy though, I would think it's the chalice from your pic, it's awfully close to it.
