Title: barnacales in sps coral.
Post by: CoralBeauties on January 16, 2015, 22:22:12
I received a new frag today that I noticed had a white spot in the middle of its main body.  I got looking at it closely tonight and noticed a sweeping barnacle fan coming in and out of the white spot that is on the body.  I took the coral out of the tank and took a straight pin and poked it into the hole and it was like a woodpecker hole in the middle of the coral.  I will watch to see if the stick pin killed it.  Looks as if it has distorted the growth pattern somewhat.  Never thought I would see something like that.

Common in maricultured ocean grown corals. It doesn't seem the hurt the coral and kind of cool looking. They don't seem to spread or reproduce in tank.
