I’m thinking of adding an emerald crab to help with some turf algae and to add some diversity to my clean up crew. Has anyone added one before and regretted it?

Used them for years and never had an issue. Mainly used them for bubble algae.

These are great for clean up, I like the Blue leg hermits for turf algae - they work wonders. ;)

Had a couple emeralds and never had an issue. Didn’t have any real algae though, so I would had feed him pieces of nori. I just had them cause they are cool!
They always hung out behind my mini carpets.

Sounds like they would be worth a try! I have a little bubble algae as well but it’s easily removable, I just haven’t had a chance to reach in to pull it out.

Here are a couple other great adds for cleaning:
-
A great website is "ReefCleaners.org" and of course local buy around the area at different LFS places.

After the emerald crab clears the tank of algae they will need to be fed. Most likely mine starved to death because of my tiny NANO tank 13.5 gallons. After he cleaned all the hair algae he starved, and then my snail ate him.

Emeralds do have large appetites, they love nori.

Gerber's has a special BOGO on emeralds right now. $9.99 for two isn't a bad price.
