I use limewater for my Ca and alk, but I have a fairly low ca/alk load.

I use Kent Marine's Kalkwasser, Coral Builder (for ALk) and Turbo Calcium. My next step will be adding a calcium reactor, but I will still use kalkwasser/lime water as well.

Showoff!   :D

Of course, how did you get enought acro skeletons to fill a "big MRC reactor"?  Make them yourself?   ;D

Funny verper lol.  http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PC-CRM&Category_Code=cmedia
Through all of my reading and experience I think that is best to have something in the media that adds mag such as dolemite or one of the zeovit mag-plus products.  The alternative to this imo is to use acro skeletons b/c they have exactly what sps need.

Yeah, that is based off of a RC thread.  Think it is called "$200 and my day off calcium reactor"

my bad i meant calcium reactor...i know a guy that did one himself and in the middle of the night it blew and he had flashbacks of incoming, not to mention a mess all over the place, and he did a good job of building it too, looked better than that RO housing (modified) looked like a reactor

The main reason i like the "ro" style diy reactor is because its desined to withstand somewhat high psi. If you dont get a good fit and a good bond on acrylic it will come apart fairly easly. I found out the hard way. The trick to making a cheap "ro" style reactor is find the parts used. The plumbing parts are somewhat cheap. the houseing is where the moneys at ( not including the co2 tank).
