Big update:  Tank is up and running!!!  Sort of.  Full of fresh water, leak test has been good for 12 hours now.  Heaters are slowly bringing the temp up.  Apex is running with half the programming done.  Plan on adding some salt and switching it over today so I can get sand and rock all in in the next couple days!!!
Firefighting:  How hard can it be?  You just put the wet stuff on the red stuff right?

So we are now full of saltwater and running.  Skimmer has been adjusted and is working great.  Sand is in the main tank and sand/mud is in the refugium.  Now its just a waiting game of letting the filter pads and skimmer clean up the water.  I will most likely start adding some rock today.  Lets get this thing started!!

Photos didn't turn out real well.  This is scape #2, which I think is a keeper.  Pictures don't show the caves and void areas very well, but I think it will work.  Gonna let it sit for a bit but I think it will work out well!!

Every time I walk by the room I poke my head in to take a look at the scape.  It's growing on me....

So with the build coming to a close, it is time to start with the next topic.  What kind of fish do I want???  Love to have input on some peoples favorites!!  I know I am going to have either a yellow or purple tang.  I know the tank is only 36" but that should be good enough for a small tang to keep the algae in check.  Also will have a fancy clown pair of some sort, still up in the air.  Other than that I am not set on anything.  I had an engineer goby once I really liked, and lawnmower blennies tend to do a good job keeping things clean.  Remember this will be SPS/LPS heavy, so keep that in mind with your suggestions.

So curveball.... I splurged today.  The SRO 1000 is out and I bought a new Vertex Omega 130!!  Should be here tomorrow or Monday.  I have heard nothing but good things about them.

So an overdue update.  First corals went in the tank a couple days ago.  Some big chunks of sps.  Some I duplicates I need to trade for some others if anyone is interested!!!  First fish order is in and should be delivered on Thursday from Liveaquaria.  A few macros are growing in the fuge, mangroves are doing well.  Cleanup crew is keeping things nice and neat.  The new skimmer is working awesome.  2 day break in period and it was done.  If anyone needs a skimmer I highly recommend the vertex.  When the lights are off in both the sump and display the glass is just alive with pods so it seems that everything is healthy and doing well!!!

So the first fish consist of:

1 Yellow Eyed Kole Tang
1 Chalk Bass
1 Royal Gramma Basselet
3 Blue/Green Chromis

So far everyone is getting along and eating well.  Hopefully more to come very soon!!

And yet another change.....  I wasn't real happy with the par numbers I was getting throughout the tank, so with the Onyx on sale this week...I bought another one.  This will definitely help with the light spread and make sure I get good light to the bottom.   Will just have to rebuild the canopy now..no biggie!!

Got some awesome macros in from gulf coast ecosystems today.  Their selection was awesome and they sent tons of macros!!  I picked up the halimedia and calurpa collections.  Also, probably the best packaging for shipping I have ever seen.  Amazing job!!  Here is the fuge.(Ignore the power chords in the background, this is part of the sump)

My first attempt at building a tank. 18x18x7 frag tank.  The seams aren't perfect, but it works and was actually really easy to do.  Also got the new canopy all built, just need to get it painted tomorrow.  Lots of progress!!

Actually it was really cheap.  I think I had 60 in the acrylic, and maybe 15 in the glue.  I'm sure I could have got the glue for less if I tried but 75 for a quick and easy frag tank is good with me!!
