2014 plans?
« on: December 17, 2013, 13:45:26 »
Anyone have big plans for their current tanks? Or starting a new one? I will start.
I am planning on getting an Apex for the 180, dosing pumps, and just finish getting it whipped back into shape.

Also starting a seahorse tank in a 28 cube. This is going to be my daughters tank. But the whole gam will have a hand in it.

What about you?

That's a nice jump. Bigger qt = bigger fish. :D

I figured fish would be happier in a larger tank more like there going into 120 and 75 are about the same dimensions and I have two laying around so why not

You have a brain that wouldn't fit in it now. Lol

also hope to snag a apex controller

finish plumbing drain in tank so for h20 changes I can do it w/o using a hose.... need to drill a hole in the wall of my house first

Still want a larger protein skimmer, leaning towards Reef Dynamics XRC750 or XRC1000 which would allow 90-100% of water going into the sump being processed via the skimmer first.

Bio pellet reactor is also on the list from reef dynamics

Been debating on setting up a smaller tank, something that I can have a pair of black clown.....

300g tub o fish

Would be interesting to see both of these. I have been thinking about both myself.

I am working on setting up a small jellyfish tank. Have done my research and believe I will be getting a moon jellyfish or two to start with. Really looking forward to the unique experiences it will offer me as well as having a great centerpiece to discuss with others. Let's just hope I don't get stung!!

Sounds interesting. Pictures i've seen of jellyfish tanks look really cool.

A guy at work has been making me a custom stand and canopy for my little 5.5G..  kinda over kill but he is awesome with woodworking so I  thought why not.  Since its going in my bedroom I don't want the light spillage.

I'm just letting my tank chill the F out after the issues I had.  Thing are looking up, but still have trouble with one Open Brain and some of my chalices.

Other than that I need to find a way to keep my skimmer running better or replace the pump or entire skimmer.

I will finally be setting up my 40b with 20 g sump.  The stand is finished and is being stained over the next week then I will be rip inning leak tests at work and moving everything to my house.  This also means I can get a few more fish and start to use the 20 g I have as qt.  this tank is planned and is going to be done right, no pests, everything will be qt-ed and I will hopefully have a nice looking tank with NO FLATWORMS (I hate them)

Planning on setting up decent frag tank as the first project for the year. Picked up a 20L at PetCo in Beavercreek ($1/Gallon sale going on now!), was really looking for a 40B but the only one the store had was already spoken for (I assume someone here probably snagged it before me). Planning on getting some cheap LEDs and maybe expanding my Apex (via another EB8 and a long USB cable) to the basement.

Later this year I plan on upgrading my salt mixing station (Shelving unit to stack my containers and plumbing them together).

Does the petco in beavercreek have a good selection of tanks?  I'm looking for a 20 g and can't find one anywhere.

Honestly....their selection of everything fish related is terrible. I don't think they actually even had any live fish in the store... But when I picked up my 20L on Monday, they had 2 or 3 more.
