HVAC tech needed ASAP
« on: August 06, 2007, 22:19:02 »
We need some AC HELP.  THE blower on our AC is barley pushing any air.  What do we need to replace?  THE air filter is not causing the problem.  Do we need a new blower?

well we have t look forward to getting the AC fixed.  blower was not moving much air and the AC froze up.  Good thing it is going to be a cold one tomorrow. :(

Try this, turn off the power to the blower motor. If you can reach it, spin it by hand. it should spin fairly freely if not you need a new one. The one on my parents went out a few weeks ago. It did the same thing your did. If you can get to it you can replace it yourself easily. I don't remember where he got his replacement blower, Lowe's doesn't carey them.

If it is only the blower motor, Slandis3 is correct.  You would just have to find a new one and swap it out.  Pretty easy fix if that is what it is.

Scott,

I have a couple of window AC units that you can use if it's going to take a while to get yours fixed.

Joe thanks for the offer!

Well it turns out to not be too bad.  We have a small freon leak in the indoor coil. Not a big deal but it needs replaced :(  So we are back up and cooling and will have a new coil installed Thursday.  Now we know why our electric/gas bills were over $600 the past two months.

We have a small freon leak in the indoor coil.

I thought about that on my way to work.  The coil freezes from low freon and blocks the flow of air from the blower.  Glad you found an A/C tech that would recharge your system without fixing the leak first.

I am also glad.  The tank upstairs got up to 84.5°.  When they replace the coil they will recharge it again if needed and not charge us any more.

On a better note we will have around 900 pounds of the dry pukani in by the end of the week.

Trade me your broken blower and I will give you my 1980's blower and my insurance will pay to replace the broken one.  I have been waiting for it die and it won't die!

ya, so...it's still hot..apparently the freon ran out again and the company decided to tell us that they were wrong about having someone come replace the leaking coils today, now they want to tell us that they will be out next week. HA!!! They're funny!! So...Scott worked his magic and they're coming tomorrow. But it's still hot...thank goodness for frozen 2 liters!
