It would appear to be a Hawaiian Black Spiky Sea Cucumber. They have been known to be reef safe when small, but can cause problems as they grow. While some sea cucumbers may have some benefits for a reef tank, the problems that they can cause generally far out-weigh any benefits they may provide. They can be highly toxic to fish and some inverts, in addition to their secretions have binding capabilities on other tank inhabitants, ie., snails, shrimp, crabs, etc. Although some cucumbers are visually a nice addition to the tank, however, most would consider the "risk" not worth it. Anyone who has ever experienced the "toxic release" in their tank would concur with the "not tank safe" opinion.
Hopefully this helped.
