Mole Crabs (Sand Fleas)
« on: January 09, 2012, 19:46:52 »
I had an interesting surprise today when I finally got my DSB plumbed into my frag/fuge tank that I am playing with in my basement.  I have had a heater and water flow in it since I brought back the sand from Florida.  When I was adjusting the return pump it stirred up a little of the sand and I found some sand fleas swimming around.  They are only a centimeter or so in length but pretty cool.  I don't think they will live long though as they are filter feeders.

Yup, you'll sometimes get them with sand from tampabaysaltwater.com.

If you had a non-photosynthetic tank that you were feeding heavily, they might make it.
