Title: Torn dorsal fin
Post by: Heinbaughb on August 14, 2018, 21:43:19
On Sunday, I noticed my Achilles tore his dorsal fin. I thought he might take weeks to heal.

48 hours later, fully healed! I couldn’t believe it.

I don’t have much experience in fish keeping prior to this past year but I’m learning these creatures are pretty amazing

He’s a beautiful fish. What happen to your PC Rainbow frag?

Thanks Jesse. He’s definitely a good looking fish and seems to be getting bigger which I am okay with. I broke off the top of the rainbow and traded most of it away. I’m experimenting with comparing growth of a fragged mother colony vs growth of the glued on frag I placed on a separate rock.

My moorish idol will regrow its caudal fin at the rate of maybe 1/2 in a day when it gets cut off.  Pretty amazing

It depends on the individual fish.  My melanurus wrasse got a hole right in the middle of it's tail and regrew it in a couple of days.  My Coral Beauty Dwarf Angel had a chunk taken out of it's head (from my butthead of a Yellow Tang) but healed completely in 2-3 days.  I gave the Tang the boot and replaced it with a One Spot Foxface and the tank has been happier since:
