Title: Rock with apistia
Post by: Amstar on June 11, 2020, 14:31:04
I have one rock (grapefruit size) that u can see a lot of tiny tiny apistias starting

Removed the rock it’s sitting in a bucket of saltwater - best way to get rid of them and reuse the rock again?

I Don’t even take a chance. Leave it in the sun for a week, rinse it out and then cycle it in a bucket and then put it back in the tank. If that is feasible of course.

It is - I have moved it from a bucket to a 5 gallon tank with heater etc.  just trying not to lose the benefit of the rock being live - just might be to alive - but i agree better safe than sorry

You can take 3/4 of saltwater out and replace with fresh water bringing salinity down to 1.005. The bacteria will survive but everything should die. Leave it in this hyposalinity for 24 hours.

I’ll try that.  That will be easy to do in the 5 gallon tank it’s in  - thanks for the idea
