Yellow Tang eating Frogspawn
« on: April 09, 2013, 21:20:13 »
Came home to a branch of my Frogspawn being closed up which was odd because it is always open. Couple hours later after feeding I see my small Yellow tang picking at the frogspawn. He is literally eating it as I can see holes form after he picks it.

I moved the frogspawn to another part of the tank and crossed my fingers that he leaves it alone. If not I will have a little Yellow Tang needing a new home.

Anyone ever seen or heard of a Yellow tang doing this? any ideas?

Never heard of this, is there any chance that there is pieces of food in the head that he is trying to get out, or is there any algae up by the head? maybe he's not trying to eat the actual frogspawn but just whats near it. What do you feed your tang? and how often, if a fish is not getting enough to eat it may get desperate. Also is it just picking at one head? or multiple heads?

Tang is fed very well.  Brine, mysis, reef frenzy and gets algae strip every day.
