When you do the shrooms, dig out a piece of the rock under it. Much easier to glue that way.

whats the green coral between the muchroom pics

Not for sure of the name of it, but i call it green lava, under light it gets about 3/8 think, and gets a blackish featherish texture on the ridges and it moves in rolls kinda like hot lava does, kinda kool..

Merulina is what it is. I have a frag in the basement. Pretty cool coral. Kinda looks like an encrusting acro.

that green coral appears to be a Hydnophora sp.
Title: Re: Frag plugs
Post by: harleyrider on May 12, 2010, 22:56:57
from what im reading hydnophora sp, take very intence lighting if that the case it should be dead lol, ive only got pc's and there about shot, and if you google hydnophora sp its a stony limbed coral.  this has no skeleton whats so ever, its almost like a slime..

Post by: KeepOnReefin on May 12, 2010, 23:38:46
Its both depending on who you talk to. Kinda like Pavona. What I purchased was Merulina, and its identical to that. Hydnophora has more pronounced coralites. They are more circular, and less angular.

in the picture, it looks like it is on a branching skeleton, just that most of it had died off. hydnophora is one of the easiest to keep and most aggressive sps coral out there.
