Ricordia to dip or not to dip
« on: June 12, 2010, 13:11:49 »
Never really thought of this before since I always seem to get my rics "free floating"

But I picked up a rock of several today and would like to keep them attached (unless they decide to do differently  :) ).

This being said... has \ do any of you dip your ricordias for pest prevention? and if so can this be harmful to them in any way?

I use Revive as my primary dip.

Soft corals are primarily water and don't seem to fair well through the dipping process. If you do dip go 1/2 strength or less and swish the rock really good to see if anything comes off that would cause you any concern. Also rinse the rock well after the dip in clean saltwater because the chemical dip is going to be in the rock which will contaminate your reef. Probably minimal amounts and nothing to be concerned with if rinsed properly. I guess in case of soft corals QT would be best however it is unlikely that any problems would occur from not QT other then nuisance algae. Similar to adding live rock
