Wavemaker Injury?
« on: October 08, 2019, 18:39:34 »
Came home today to my poor firefish missing almost all of his tail! The injury looks like a staight line across and it wasnt like this at all 24 hours ago. I suspect he got caught on the wavemaker and got snipped. My thought process is as follows:

1. Other fauna attack - not likely, tank inhabitants are vlue leg hermits, scooter blenny, soft coral and lps
2. Water quality - dont think so, just tested yesterday and phos 0.02, nitrate 0, ammonia 0 - I also just got back my Triton test and only issues were slighty high mag and no iodine- also i dont think it would happen within 24 hours.
3. JABO wavemaker - only thing left in my mind that could do this. Most likely going to look into some sort of foam cover now.

Any other experiences would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

While these fish look quite peace full, they are a very nervous fish.  Any little thing surprising them, and they freak out.   Especially just after the lights go out.  They are known jumpers too.

Power head is possible, or just freaking out a bit.  Keep an eye on it.   All of my pumps are programmable, I run them quite slow at night when fish might be more prone to power head confrontations.
