RO/Di Pressure
« on: April 21, 2012, 14:09:41 »
I have an Aqua FX Barracuda filter.  Because I have low water pressure, I installed an Aquatec 8800 booster pump.  When the outlet valve from the filter is closed, the pressure builds to 100 PSI.  This tells me the pumps working because it was only hitting about 20 PSI before.  If I open the valve all the way to release the water, the pressure drops to 20 PSI.  The membrane requires 35 PSI.  Now my stupid question(s).  Is it normal to only open the water release valve partially to keep the pressure above the required PSI.  In other words, if I only open the release valve, halfway, I can maintain 60 PSI pressure.   Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?

You should have a flow restrictor on your waste output from the RO membrane.

if you have flow restrictor in proper place an direction the booster pump itself can be adjusted for more or less pressure.

Is a flow restrictor something I can add?
