Show me your rescued Corals...
« on: September 10, 2009, 23:00:16 »
So lets see some coral you may have rescued. Maybe from Jacks, a sponsor, or club member, whatcha got?

Here are mine:

Beautiful fuzzy green Acro. I have fragged it three times in the two months I have had it, that includes the 2-3 weeks it took to recover:

Before:

After:

The Short Polyped Acro I rescued. Plain old, poop brown when I got it. A week later, its started RTN. I fragged 5 pieces, 4 lived. All four started out with blue tips, then BRIGHT green and blue. Pictures don't show the color, or do it justice. Have to see this one in person:

Before:

These are the two that are not attached to my rock work, so they have been moved around a little. The other two show MUCH more color. Alot more blue on the tips. I might move the lights so I can get a picture. I hope to have a better pic tommorrow.
After:

I have several more rescue corals. I might post some more pics later.

Already seen your incredible 10G frag tank :D

Do you think 560W is too much for a 20G frag tank plumbed into my 120 display/40G Sump?

Was that a bash on my 10g?  :(  I haven't shown progression pics of my rescues.

I had 560W of light over my 40g tank with no problems.  It depends on how high and how focused the light is.  It also depends on the source (point source like a metal halide or spread out like a PC.)  If it's a 400W MH with some T5's or something, I'd probably have the light source at least 30" away from the lowest coral.  So, the short answer is...it depends!

This guy didn't make it...I tried to feed him one day, and the hermit crabs jumped on him and ripped him apart when I turned my back.  :(

Just picked up a montipora cap today that needs some TLC, should be a dark red/brown color.  I put it in the tank and within 2hrs little brown polyps started to extend.  Now I just have to wait and see.

so where is everyone finding these "rescue" corals?
75G Mixed Reef w/ 30G sump/refuge

Electrical Engineers do it on impulse, with faster rise times, with more power, and less resistance at higher frequencies, without shorts, until it Hertz

I got mine from a guy locally that knew I had a tank with MH's and thought I could help.  When/if it comes back he should have his new tank up with enough light to maintain it.

Actually, it's doing really really well...and it turning out even more beautiful.  There's only a little bit of skeleton showing.  I think I picked it up from either Coral Ranch or Phishy's as a rescue coral (I'm thinking it was CR.)

I am thinking about selling it once it's healed...its tentacles are threatening a lot of corals at night.  It puffs up pretty big.  I just don't have the room in the 10g.
