Title: The annual frozen food buy
Post by: SweetReefOH on January 11, 2021, 18:05:17
Due to the issues we ran into last year with Brine Shrimp Direct, I’m just wondering if we shouldn’t get the process started now for the bulk buy?

We are discussing getting bulk prices on this food. I feel like it would appeal to most of the club’s feeding needs for frozen food without having to make a mess in the kitchen and without having to deal with the brine shrimp ordeal. Currently trying to see what kind of price we can get.

Personally I feel like the brine and capelin just make a mess in the tank. My fish are a little on the big/chubby side lol. That’s why I like to make my own. I know BSD is a pain but the cost/variety is ideal. That bulk mysis/krill last year was a pretty good thing too!

I would be willing to work with BSD to try to get this done again this year,  BUUUUTTTT and its a J-LO sized Butt, if the customer service is the same as last year then I will move on to another source. Cost is a very important factor but the amount of time and number of contacts Gary made with them last year is ridiculous. Even if we use another source it will be a cost savings.

Gerber’s sells it currently at his store. We are looking into our options.

I vote for bsd, but if Julie is still there running the show it will be a bad experience. I make my own gumbo mix and buying in bulk flats is the best way to go for that.
