sump

i was shooting the idea around in my head about adding some microalgee to my sump already have a sock of chemapure behind the rock so it cant make it to my return pump i think i would have to divide the tan in 2-or 3 slots but make it so the water level stays the same in sump i have about 5-6 pieces of live rock in it now ,how would i trap the microalgee to keep the flow the same and not take a chance on frying my pump ??
